Did this deny the attacking team an obvious goal-scoring opportunity?

Law 12 prints four factors and says they must be considered rather than may: distance between the offence and the goal, general direction of the play, likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball, and location and number of defenders and attackers. Handball is judged on its own rules rather than these: a deliberate handball that denies a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity is a sending-off wherever it happens, except a goalkeeper inside their own penalty area, and a non-deliberate one is a sending-off outside the offender's own penalty area but only a caution where it produces a penalty kick.
